A meditation in motion, yoga helps develop flexibility and balance in both the body and the mind, through physical movement. Nirvana yoga classes are taught by Helen Coyne, a lifelong dance and fitness enthusiast who has been practicing yoga and Pilates for more than a decade.
Trained to teach in the Yogaworks® method, Helen blends the Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions in a slow-flow class with a strong emphasis on alignment principles. Each pose is designed to help significantly improve your skeletal alignment, increase your range of motion, and enhance the function of every system in the body, keeping you more youthful and energized.
With detailed instructions for every pose and skillful sequencing, Helen will guide you to a deeper understanding of yoga and the benefits to your body, enriching your yoga practice. By moving through a series of vinyasa flows, maintaining longer postural holds, and linking breath to movement, you'll ignite your body’s internal heating system, allowing for deep tension release and stimulation of the relaxation response.
Helen is also Pilates Mat I and Mat II certified by Balanced Body University and has specialty training in yoga for Women with Cancer. Additionally, she s a graduate of Boston University.
